In the maritime industry, level and pressure measurement form the foundation of many critical processes, ranging from safety and operational continuity to cost optimization and regulatory compliance. Developing long-lasting and reliable measurement technologies designed for harsh environmental conditions, VEGA stands out as a global reference in this field. With a wide range of applications extending from chemicals and maritime to food and energy, VEGA differentiates itself in level and pressure measurement. We discussed VEGA’s organizational structure in Türkiye, its technology approach, sustainability vision, and the solutions it offers to the maritime sector with Özgür Durdu, Ship Industry Manager at VEGA Türkiye.

Holding a strong global position in industrial measurement technologies, VEGA plays a critical role in safety, operational continuity, and cost optimization through its level and pressure measurement solutions for the maritime industry. Özgür Durdu, Ship Industry Manager at VEGA Türkiye, states that the company’s core vision is to make customers’ lives easier and safer.

VEGA’s preference across a wide range of industries—including maritime, chemicals, food, energy, and water—is driven by its high measurement accuracy, long product lifetime, and user-friendly design approach. Özgür Durdu points out that developing products in a standardized structure saves time during selection, installation, commissioning, and calibration processes, providing a significant advantage, particularly in maritime operations where time is critical.

Highlighting that innovation and R&D are at the heart of VEGA’s technology development approach, Özgür Durdu emphasizes that the company holds more than 1,500 patent applications. He also underlines that VEGA’s in-house chip production is a key factor in ensuring measurement accuracy and long-term field performance. He adds that all devices undergo extensive testing after production and comply with international certification processes, including those related to cybersecurity and global safety standards.

Addressing sustainability, Özgür Durdu notes that VEGA is progressing in line with globally defined carbon-neutral targets. He explains that efforts to extend the service life of products result in fewer replacements and reduced material consumption worldwide. He also adds that VEGA Türkiye is implementing local initiatives to reduce plastic consumption, lower fossil fuel use, and minimize its carbon footprint.

When evaluating product groups used in maritime applications, Özgür Durdu explains that level measurement devices such as VEGAWELL 52 offer solutions for a wide range of tank and fluid applications with a single device. He also states that radar level sensors and level switches can be safely used across wide temperature and pressure ranges. This approach, he notes, enhances operational flexibility while reducing total cost of ownership.

Drawing attention to VEGA’s global strength in service and after-sales support, Özgür Durdu states that the company provides fast and reliable assistance to shipowners and fleet managers worldwide through its presence in more than 80 countries and its 24/7 service support line. He emphasizes that class approvals, Ex-proof, and SIL certifications ensure full compliance with maritime regulations.

Noting that 2025 was a slower year for the maritime industry both in Türkiye and globally, Özgür Durdu states that Türkiye is nevertheless becoming increasingly prominent in this market. He adds that VEGA Türkiye aims to be involved in a greater number of projects in 2026 and beyond, further expanding its collaborations with business partners.
